The Sad Truth:

Giancarlo Stanton is officially a member of the New York Yankees. That’s right. The Yankees who led all of Major League Baseball in home runs last year have just acquired last year’s 59 Home Run MVP.

The Goddamn Yankees are back man. The way other teams feared them during the George Steinbrenner era from the late 90’s into the mid 2000’s appears to be returning under the leadership of Brian Cashman. The Yankees took the eventual World Series Champion Houston Astros to 7 games in this years ALCS. They proved that despite their youth, their talent could lead them deep into the playoffs. Last week many Sox fans laughed in the faces of Yankees fans when he refused to even meet with them, but now the Yankees have confirmed any baseball fan’s worst of nightmares. As if they needed Giancarlo Stanton in this lineup with Gary Sanchez and Aaron Judge…Devastating.

Why am I devastated?

Generally I try to remain relatively unbiased, but here right now I just can’t be. Last season when Stanton’s impending trade market first came up in baseball news, the Red Sox not the Yankees were one of the main teams entrenched in the sweepstakes. And that is exactly why I feel blindsided. This is Durant to the Warriors all over. In the same way Durant did it, I thought there was absolutely no way he goes to “that team” and that he did.

Jeter is a Fraud for This

This is blatant corruption. I get that Stanton had a trade clause and was able to essentially pick and choose his final destination, but man… The Yanks are giving up Starlin Castro and a lot of prospects who are not at the very top of their farm system. This seems like an absolute steal for the Yankees. I really want to do some kind of spinzone here, but it is what it is. The Vegas odds have adjusted accordingly. The New York Yankees are the World Series favorites. At this point I’m prepared for them to sign Bryce Harper after next year and bring back Babe Ruth from the dead.

The Red Sox NEED to sign someone pronto or they are going to get absolutely blown out of the water next season. That’s just a fact.
