Zion Williamson to Duke: The Blue Devils are Ready for 2018
January 23, 2018
One of the biggest recruits in the Nation finally picked where he wants to dominate college basketball from. Zion Williamson has committed to play at Duke with the Cameron Crazies. This gives Duke the top 3 recruits in the entire nation for the upcoming season. Duke also has ESPN No.1 recruit RJ Barrett and ESPN No.3 Cam Reddish.
Coach K must sell these kids houses and pay off the mortgage to get kids here. Whatever he is doing though, it sure is working. After Coach K got Williamson he must’ve felt like he was taking a shower with money coming out of the showerhead. While all these guys are near the same size at 6’6”/6’7”, Williamson right now is the most ready for the next competition. He weighs a big time 272 lbs at 6’6”. While he could lose a little weight and drop down to a more lean 250/255, he is coming into college basketball without the problem that most players have, which is having to put on weight.
R.J. is coming in at 6’7” 200 lbs, which is extremely light for a guy that tall. The goal would be to get him to like 220 so he can get himself to the basket and hold his own in the paint. Same stands with 6’7” 203 lbs Cam Reddish. It will be a lot easier for Zion, who is already an athletic freak of nature to lose 15-20 lbs rather than for him to have to put that weight on.
While some players can play at 6’8” 200 lbs, like Andrew Wiggins and Jayson Tatum for example, most players at that kind of body don’t pan out well in the NBA. Either way, Coach K is smiling and all giddy in his chair not caring totally what happens this year and realizing that he will win the National Title next season.
