Why Carson Wentz Could Win The NFL MVP
October 30, 2017The NFL season is just about at the halfway point and there are clear MVP candidates, which is why I’m here to explain why Eagles quarterback, Carson Wentz, has a good chance of taking this widely desired honor.
What has Wentz Done so Far?
Coming into the 2017 NFL season, Carson Wentz was suppose to be average with potential in the future. He was supposed to play average, his team was supposed to be average, yet this kid is proving everybody wrong. After week 8, the Philadelphia Eagles hold an NFL best record of 7-1 and have the best net points in the league at 76. How do NFL teams do well? Well, it usually starts with their quarterback, and Carson Wentz is having an incredible statistical season this year. He is second in the league in passing yards at 2,063, he is tied for first in touchdowns with 19, he is 7th in league in passer rating, and has only thrown 5 interceptions. These numbers are on pace for an MVP caliber player. The biggest thing for Carson is how successful his team is playing. A player can put up these stats, but won’t get any consideration for MVP if their team is not any good. However, the Eagles are having a fantastic season, as is Wentz, which is the equation you need to be MVP. Wentz is statistically tearing up the league and his team’s record is so good because of that.
What Must Wentz do For the Rest of the Season to Win the MVP?
Carson has a tough task ahead of him if he really wants to win the MVP. With guys like Tom Brady and Alex Smith also dominating the NFL, he will need to post numbers like what he has up to this point. Additionally, in only his 2nd year in the league, he needs to show he has the leadership to will an NFL team to win games. He will have to show to everybody he can carry this team and and work in the clutch . The Eagles will need to win their division and hold off the on the rise Cowboys. Additionally, Wentz cannot fall behind Tom Brady statistically or else he may lose the MVP nod to his AFC counterpart. Regardless of how the rest of the season will go, at this point Wentz has to be in the MVP conversation, and if he continues to dominate, he will have a good chance at coming away with the award.
