Underrated Players: D’Onta Foreman

If you’re a college football fan, then you have surely heard the names Leonard Fournette and Dalvin Cook. But have you heard the name D’Onta Foreman? Unless you watch and breathe college football then you probably haven’t. Yes it’s true that every analyst and draft nut has raved about the ability of Fournette and Cook. Many have talked for months of how they will go in the first round of the draft and possibly being some of the top athletes in it.  I believe these are two of the top backs in the 2017 NFL Draft, but as draft talks pick up, I always like to talk about some of the most underrated players that will eventually become stars.

Let’s get to the subject itself. D’Onta Foreman is a Running Back from Texas that hasn’t really been talked about much, due to being overshadowed by the firing of Head Coach Charlie Strong. But this season Foreman put on a show rushing for over 100 yards every single game and finishing with 6.3 YPC, 2,028 Rushing yards and totaling 15 touchdowns. D’Onta had two 250 rushing yard games and one 341 rushing yards game. Keep in mind this was done against Baylor, Kansas, and Texas Tech; not FCS schools but actually all Big 12 schools. That is an impressive task that shows his talent and skills as I can’t remember the last time a player has ever accomplished this goal. He is a great downhill runner and a powerful back with bursts of speed. D’Onta can go north to south quickly as he has some of the best vision compared to any of the backs who entered the draft in the past few years, and can make quick cuts to finish what he started. Yes when it comes to most players that are coming into the league they aren’t perfect and have to improve in some aspect of the game. For Foreman this would be his receiving game as he had a whopping seven receptions for 75 yards, which is under impressing in that aspect of his game.  He was also at times one of the best pass blockers, but at other times, he was getting totally picked apart by other teams. He is one of the most underrated players in the draft as no one is really talking about him. I believe he can be a future star in the NFL and could possibly be the best back to come out of the 2017 draft.
