Sean Miller the Next Coach Going Down in an FBI Investigation

Arizona Head Coach Sean Miller did not coach the Wildcats in their loss against Oregon Saturday night.  He was forced to sit out amid an FBI investigation on College Basketball.  It was revealed that an FBI wiretap had caught a conversation between Coach Miller and Charles Dawkins, who is the main figure in the FBI probe case.  Both Dawkins and Miller had discussed a $100,000 transfer of money to Deandre Ayton, a highly recruited player set to be a top 5 draft pick this season.  Ayton, who played in Saturday’s game said that he and his family never received money or discussed it with the program.

Miller will likely be out of a job very shortly and this has been the start of one of the biggest corruption cases in sports.  The FBI investigation has been going on for a while and started at Louisville with Coach Rick Pitino and 5-Star Recruit Brian Bowen.  Pitino was allegedly involved with a process to funnell $100,000 to Bowen from the team’s sponsor Adidas.  While Miller’s future is unclear it will likely be the end for him at Arizona.  He hasn’t yet been charged with anything but if federal investigators find his program actually gave money to players then he will be subject to an NCAA violation.  Just like Pitino, if Miller were to be charged that would cement the end of his time with Arizona.  Due to the ongoing investigation, 4-star recruit and son of Shaquille O’Neal, Shareef O’Neal has decommitted from Arizona and has reopened his recruiting.  This is a big loss for the program even if they don’t lose Coach Miller.
