NFL Division Winners Predictions Post Week 7

NFL Division Winners Predictions Post Week 7

October 26, 2017 Off By tailgatesports

Week 7 of the NFL season in the books and week 8 is fast approaching. Teams are starting to break away with their divisions while other teams are in a tight battle, and it appears that it is anybody’s race. In this article, we break down the teams I think will win each division and why.

AFC East: New England Patriots

The Bills are giving it a good run, but do not have nearly enough fire power. The Dolphins have a Jay Cutler, who looks like he belongs on the couch. The Jets did everything they could, hey, it isn’t their fault the refs are taking away perfectly good touchdowns from them. But let’s be honest, Tom Brady will lead this team to a division win for the 9th year in a row as the rest of the teams fall into their place.

AFC North: Pittsburgh Steelers

A favorite at the beginning of the season to win the division, I think this team has what it takes to take the win. The defense hasn’t been the best, but that was expected. The offense has not been running on the same cylinders it had in the past, yet this team is still leading the division at 5-2. The Steelers are just too talented to let the Ravens or Bengals catch them, with a healthy Bell and Brown, there is just too much talent on the offense.

AFC South: Houston Texans

In my opinion, this is the toughest division to predict the winner to right now. However, at this point, I am picking the Houston Texans to win this division. At 4-3 the Texans and Jaguars are tied for the top of this mediocre division. Personally, and despite the fact that the Texans are currently 3rd in the division at 3-3, I believe that this is a two way race for me between the Titans and Texans. Both teams have talented offenses with very high potential. However, the Texans have the better defense, even though it’s beat up. Deshaun Watson is playing out of his mind and this team will go as far as he can perform. I think this team makes it to a division win with an unimpressive 9-7 record, as it comes down to the final week to decide who comes out with the division title.

AFC West: Kansas City Chiefs

After starting 5-0 this team has looked rocky. They have now dropped two straight games, including one to a struggling Raiders team last week on Thursday Night Football. However, I think this team is still good enough to win this competitive division. Alex Smith and Kareem Hunt are playing at MVP caliber levels and the defense has been pretty solid, led by Pro Bowl corner, Marcus Peters. If this team can continue to roll on offense, they will be tough to keep out of the playoffs, and from winning the AFC West.

NFC East: Philadelphia Eagles

At 6-1, this team is on a roll. They have won 3 of their games on the road, which is usually not the case for this team. Carson Wentz has been playing way better than he was expected. The defense is not the best, but the offense has been doing plenty to make up for this so far. Looking at the rest of the division, the Giants are not a threat to anybody, who knows what is going to happen to Ezekiel Elliott and the Cowboys, and the Redskins just don’t have the firepower. If the offense continues to dominate, the Eagles will walk into the playoffs.

NFC North: Minnesota Vikings

Ask me this two weeks ago and I’m 100% picking the Green Bay Packers to win this division. However, the loss of the two time MVP, Aaron Rodgers, changes everything. The Packers quarterback broke his collarbone, which almost immediately crushes their playoff hopes. The Vikings have been playing quiet, solid football. Nothing very flashy, but this team gets the job done when they need to. The defense is very good, and despite injuries to vital positions, like quarterback and running back, this team is still 4-3. The Lions have struggled as of recent, and the Bears are in a rebuild. If the Vikings can continue to play solid football, they have a really good chance at the division title.

NFC South: Atlanta Falcons

Coming off the worst super bowl choke in history, this team has something to prove. Despite being 3-3 and 3rd in the division, this team is talented. The offense has not been on the same level as it was last year, but it is still really good. The problem this team is having is Matt Ryan and Julio Jones have yet to find their groove, which is scary because this team still has a winning record. If these players can return to their top notch level that they have been in the past, then this team will have no problem winning this division.

NFC West: Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks started the season slow, but are now on a three game winning streak and appear to be on the rise. Their defense has played relatively well, but has the potential to do far better. Their offense has not functioned to it’s full potential either. Looking at the division, the Rams are in the lead at 5-2. However, when look at the Rams next 8 games, 7 of them are against teams with a 500 record or better. This tough schedule will put real tests on this Rams team, opening the door for the Seahawks to win the division. Coming off a big win vs the 1-6 Giants, this team looks to win their fourth straight against the on-the-rise Texans and hopefully get their offense rolling.
