New York Yankees vs. Houston Astros Recap: Game 6
October 21, 2017Well here we are. The Astros showed up in Game 6 absolutely shitting all over New York and we have Game 7. Astros not only won this game they won it by a wide margin 7-1 was the final score. The Astros finally put some hits together and put some runs on the board to help their pitching which was phenomenal tonight. Justin Verlander easily the player of the game tonight going 7 innings allowing 0 runs over 5 hits and striking out 8 in a dominant performance in an elimination game for the Astros. I think the Astros are really happy they made that trade right about now. As for New York, they need to learn to win on the road and it’s and for the 5th time this postseason the Yankees season is on the line this time with a World Series appearance on the line.
The Astros had an all around great game tonight. As mentioned before Verlander put on an absolute show and shows that he still has it despite what the critics might say. The Astros this series have been looking for a guy to step up to the plate and deliver for them and they got that tonight from two guys, Jose Altuve and Alex Bregman. Altuve drove in 3 runs tonight 2 via a single and 1 via the solo ding dong. Bregman had a clutch 2-run double in the 8th which put the Astros in a spot with a comfortable lead. The Astros have been searching for someone to get them some runs and gotta hand it to these guys they showed the fuck up.
As for New York, once again they scored 1 run for the third time this series in Houston and couldn’t put anything together. Luis Severino struggled from the mound today and was pulled after 4.2 innings and letting up 3 runs. One guy who showed up was Chad Green. The Yankees have leaned heavily on him in tough spots and Green has been the man. He gave them 2.1 innings out of the pen not letting up a single hit and striking out 3. After that the Yankees went to David Robertson and boy was that a mistake. He was not able to record a single out allowing 4 runs on 4 hits in the 8th before being pulled and replaced by Delin Betances who had a great showing tonight for the first time in a while. Judge is continuing his good play in the series bouncing back from his early struggles hitting an absolute bomb to left center going 425ft and hitting off of the train at Minute Maid.
The big game is tonight. Game 7 is do or die for both teams and we will see who is going to rise to the occasion and take the American League Pennant. New York will send out postseason stud C.C. Sabathia who gave a great performance in Game 3 at home and the Astros send out Charlie Morton who struggled a ton in Game 3. Both teams will need their best from each guy on the mound and they’ll get it. This game will come down to who can hit the ball and who wants it more. Who will be the American League Champion?
