Is the Senior College Football Analyst at Tailgate Sports Actually Good At His Job?

If you’re a fan of the NFL Draft, then you surely know the college football analysts Mel Kiper, Todd McShay, Mike Mayock, and Daniel Jeremiah, who work around the clock 24/7 to give you the latest rumors and reports for your favorite team or maybe your favorite player in the draft. Many college football and NFL fans think that you have to trust the professionals who get paid a lot to keep you informed no matter what, but this just isn’t true. This is why I’ve decided to write this article to tell you why all the fans of the NFL Draft should look for MY mock drafts, player position rankings, underrated players articles, and player profile articles, along with other videos and content rather than following these overhyped analysts. You probably have doubts about my legitimacy, which is why I have included some of my content from last year to prove why you should follow my work, as I won’t stop grinding and studying hours of film on different players so that I can provide the best articles and mock drafts out there.

My mock drafts from last year alone should clearly be enough to prove why you should follow my analysis this year. Below is a link to my final mock draft before the 2017 Draft. I included trades in the draft and followed all of the latest draft rumors to ensure the best and most accurate mock draft that I could provide. This, of course, included some bold predictions. The results spoke for themselves, as there is also a link to the 2017 first round draft results, and I was able to get 5 of the picks right out of 32. I was able to correctly predict the picks for Myles Garrett, Leonard Fournette, Christian McCaffrey, Jarrad Davis, and Takkarist McKinley. Now this may not see like a lot to many, but 5 correct picks was actually above average when compared to many of the big analysts (the list below shows said analysts and how many picks they got right. I included myself in this list as well). Look at one of the most popular analysts Mel Kiper, who only got 2 picks right in the first round. I included his final mock draft to compare with my final mock draft. After all that rumor chasing and trying to provide the best mock draft his fell flat. This is pretty common though, as the NFL Draft is so hard to predict as so many variables play into it. I still think it was my chasing down of the rumors that was able to help me get my 5 picks right and make a better mock draft than most of the competition.

Professional NFL Draft Analysts Mock Draft Rankings

If my mock drafts weren’t enough to convince you why you should follow all of my blogs about the draft, then my articles breaking down underrated players that will be selected later on in the draft but will have a significant impact definitely will. Last year, for example, I wrote about the edge rusher Carl Lawson. I talked about how he was gonna be a pass rusher specialist as he wasn’t to good at stopping the run. With the 116th pick in the 4th round the Cincinnati Bengals selected him. This year in the NFL, Lawson had 16 tackles, which doesn’t sound good on it’s own, but when you look and notice that Lawson also collected an amazing 8.5 sacks, which led all rookies in sacks, it makes Lawson appear to be a late round steal for Cincinnati. If you don’t believe me, I also provided a link to all of the rookies leading stat holders. This was the exact result that I saw coming from him when I wrote about it before last year’s draft.

Underrated Players: Carl Lawson

2017-18 NFL Rookie Stats

Along with my breakdown of Carl Lawson, I also did a top 50 NFL draft prospects blog. I had the edge rusher Tyus Bowser high up on my list, as I saw him as an underdog which he did perform like. I also had Patrick Mahomes before any other quarterback, as I still think he can be the best quarterback out of that draft class.

Top 50 Prospects In the 2017 NFL Draft

These were my rankings for both the offense and defense. I ranked the top 10 players for each position and nearly had perfect predictions rankings for linebackers. I may have missed a couple towards the end. but I had perfect predictions for the running backs as Dalvin Cook had a perfect start before he tore his ACL. Leonard Fournette also had a great year, and of course, Alvin Kamara lit it up this year. I missed on Deshaun Watson and some of the wide receivers, but for the most part my predicted rankings for each position was nearly perfect overall. This year I’m doing each position by itself so I can also give the College Football fans more in depth and accurate analysis for every player.

In case you missed it, this is my first 2018 mock draft of the year. It came out before many of the players declared for the draft or stated they were headed back to school for another year. This mock draft came out before any of the other big analysts. In fact, Mel Kiper released his mock draft shortly after mine, and the top 5 picks of his first mock draft were very close to mine.

Of course, I won’t let this early success get to my head. I will continue to grind and better my predictions and mock drafts to give you the most accurate articles and videos that I can make. Next up is my second mock draft coming out this week, and then I’ll follow that up with my top 10 quarterbacks rankings due out in the first week of February. Next time you go to look up any NFL Mock Drafts or NFL Draft predictions don’t go to the overhyped, household name analysts. Instead, go to Tailgate Sports, home of the best analysts in College Football who work nonstop to prove why we’re the best, because at Tailgate Sports, It’s Always Tailgate Season.
