Home To First: MLB Rundown September 11th

September 11, 2017 Off By tailgatesports

Weekend Recap Here We Go:

Indians Win 18th Straight:  While getting contributions from everyone in their lineup and brilliant starting pitching as well, the Indians have extended their win streak to 18 games; The 18 games straight is the second longest streak in the MLB over the past 50 years. Truly incredible.

Judge Gets To 40: Aaron Judge became only the second rookie in MLB history to hit 40 Home Runs in a season as he went yard twice in Texas. The Yankees are 3.5 clear in the Wild Card race and have all but solidified themselves as a playoff team.

Rockies Sweep Dodgers: Colorado allowed their Wild Card lead to go all the way down to 1.5 games but after a sweep of the Dodgers they are back on track. MVP candidate Nolan Arenado regained his stroke in the series going a combined 8-15 with 2 Home Runs in the four game sweep.

Nationals Clinch NL East: In the abysmal NL East the Nats were able to clinch an early division title Sunday following another win over the Phillies. While this is terrific news in Washington, the Bryce Harper injury looms over them as they wait to see if he might return this season.

Angels Hang Around: A Mike Trout Homer led the Angels to a 5-3 W over division foe Seattle on Sunday.  The Angels are 1 game back of the Twins for the final Wild Card spot; unfortunately no games remain between the two teams.

Brewers Sweep Cubs: Going into Friday night, the Brewers were 5 games back of the Cubs and all but officially extinct from divisional contention, yet after a sweep in which they outscored the Cubs 20-3 there has to be a newfound hope of dethroning the Cubs over these next few weeks. A four game series will most likely define the winner of this division starting on September 20th.
