First to Home: MLB Rundown August 29th
August 29, 2017
Monday Night Limited Games But Here We Go
Nationals Win and Scherzer Dominates: After a brief stint on the DL Max Scherzer returned against the hot Marlins on Monday night and completely shut them down. The Nats cruised to an 11-2 victory as players continue to step up in the absence of Bryce Harper.
Orioles Win AGAIN: A clutch double late in the game off the bat of Chris “Crush” Davis gave the Orioles a 7-6 lead that they would not again relent against the Mariners on Monday night. It is the team’s fifth straight win. At 28th worst in the league in starting pitching era they might become the lowest ranked team in that category to ever make a playoff appearance. Timely hitting.
Indians Get W; Corey Kluber Magnificent: The Indians notched the Yanks 6-2 on Monday behind a pair of Jose Ramirez big flies. However, the real story was the dominance of Kluber on the mound once again. Since June 1st he has delivered a quality start in all but one appearance. He continues to make a run for the CY Young, an award Chris Sale seemed destined to win only a few weeks ago.
Rockies Continue To Blow It: 11-14 in the Month of August. The Rockies continue to allow the Brewers (3 GB) to creep back in the Wild Card race. The only player keeping them afloat right now is Charlie Blackmon who should be top 5 in MVP voting. A devastating 4-3 loss at home to the Tigers could be the start of turmoil in Denver if this club can’t figure it out soon.
