First to Home: July 6th MLB News and Notes

Dellin Betances: Yankees setup man Dellin Betances is known for being one of the best relievers in baseball. However, this season he has struggled to perform up to his standards, as he has been walking opposing hitters at an alarming rate. He also has a disturbing 1.46 WHIP, which has led to his 3-4 record.

Astros Continue to Win on the Road: The Houston Astros are now a ridiculous 31-9 on the road this season after thumping the Braves 10-4 in Atlanta. As they continue to thrive 100 wins is becoming increasingly realistic.

Alex Wood: Dodgers starting pitcher Alex Wood is now 10-0 after a 7 inning, 10 strikeout shutout against divisional opponent Arizona last night. Every start he goes without a loss he continues to join very elite company. His 1.67 ERA is just stupid at this point.

Brewers Take Care of Business: The Brewers shutout the Orioles 4-0 on Wednesday behind a stellar outing from Matt Garza and a strong offensive output from blossoming talent Keon Broxton. The Brewers chances of winning the NL Central are starting to seem realistic. They are certainly not a fluke at this stage

Cubs Fight Back: One day after dipping under .500 the Cubs fought back from a 3- deficit to beat the Rays. While this season has not gone to plan, the Cubs have still shown glimpses of last years super team and could return to that form at any moment.

Royals on the Charge: Only a month ago the Royals were a sub .500 team who seemed to lack the offense to contend for even a wildcard. However, after a terrific conclusion to June, they have no won 7 of 8 games and are only .5 game back of the division leading Indians. It is starting to appear as if the Royals and Indians might both end up in the playoffs this year.
