Domenic’s Way Too Early in the Season Top 9 NFL Draft Picks 1.0

October 9, 2017 Off By tailgatesports

Just five weeks into the NFL season, we’ve seen many teams struggle, as many were expected, while others have come to a complete shock to us. I have decided to give everyone my first installment to the too early to tell top 9 2018 NFL Mock Draft picks. Whether you’re a Patriots fan, Giants fan, or a Broncos fan, every team needs an upgrade for their team, and these upgrades could possibly be found through the 2018 draft. The players teams are looking for are leaders that can improve their respective franchises for the long run, and many of these players can do that.

  1. San Francisco 49ers: Josh Rosen – Quarterback – UCLA

Josh Rosen is a great leader on his team, possessing the skills to lead a team and be the top pick in the draft. The only worry would be his inconsistency with turnovers, which can be worked on. The 49ers are in desperate need of a franchise quarterback that can be a leader and play at a high level, which Rosen has demonstrated that he can. Josh Rosen’s stats this past 2017 season have proven he can be top of the league with his stats, as he’s thrown for 2,135 yards, 17 touchdowns, and only 5 interceptions.

  1. Cleveland Browns: Tarvarus McFadden – Cornerback – Florida State

A great cover corner that also has great tackle and tracking skills. McFadden is the most well rounded corner in the draft that can help any team. The Browns need to find a new franchise corner that can help them shut down any wide receiver they go up against. They already have a young prodigy for the future and number two corner spot. Even with the offense playing poorly for Florida State, McFadden has helped the defense keep all of their games close, as he produced ten tackles. Even though he does not have any turnovers, he has limited receivers to catching any major passes.

  1. New York Jets: Sam Darnold – Quarterback – USC

Sam Darnold is a quarterback that has a great skill set of both a strong arm and great passing ability that any team would be lucky to have. Darnold has been bad with interceptions, which won’t help him out. If he can fix this, he is an excellent pick. The Jets need a quarterback with actual skill, unlike their last two picks at quarterback, which have been duds. Sam Darnold hasn’t really lit up the stats, as he’s thrown for 1,705 yards, 12 touchdowns, and 9 interceptions so far this year.

  1. Chicago Bears: James Washington – Wide Receiver – Oklahoma State

Washington has both speed and receiving skills that will make him a productive wide out in the league. He also is a clean route runner that will help him get corners off of him. The Bears have Cameron Meredith who tore his ACL and Kevin White who’s battled injuries. They need a new receiver that can help them through the air. James Washington is a dynamic receiver, as he’s caught 28 passes for 647 yards, and 5 touchdowns so far this year.

  1. Indianapolis Colts: Quenton Nelson – Offensive Guard – Notre Dame

Nelson has been a solid runner and pass blocker who has helped Notre Dame’s offense on every snap of the ball. He can help produce higher numbers and running yards down in the trenches and and will keep any quarterback safe from defenders. The Colts have been damaged at quarterback because of horrible offensive line production. They also havn’t had a solid run game because of this as well.

  1. New Orleans Saints: Harold Laundry – Defensive End – Boston College

Laundry possesses one of the best pass rushing abilities in the last three years and is solid in run stop as well. He will be a game changer from day one as he will play hard. The Saints defense has lacked any pass rush and little run defense in the past four years. With Harold, this would change as he would bring a different skill set. Known as “The most NFL ready edge rusher”, he’s had a slow start to the year as he has 25 tackles, 2 sacks, but no turnovers.

  1. Cincinnati Bengals: Mason Rudolph – Quarterback – Oklahoma State

With the strongest arm in the draft class, Rudolph has raw talent that will help any team. The talent that he can use is crazy, and could make him the best quarterback in the draft when all is said and done. The Andy Dalton era will come to an end very soon, especially since so far this year Dalton looks like a totally different player that is incapable of leading a team. Mason, on the other hand, can be this leader and could be the future replacement for Dalton. Rudolph has one of the strongest arms in college and can throw it deep, as he’s thrown for 1,909 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions.

  1. New York Giants: Mike McGlinchey – Offensive Tackle – Notre Dame

Another great product of Notre Dame’s offensive line, McGlinchey reminds me of Joe Thomas as a tough reliable player that will play no matter what. He is solid in both the run and passing game. The Giants need help at the tackle position, after the failed attempt of Erick Flowers. With McGlinchey, they would finally be able to protect Eli long enough for him to get a pass off and could avoid the Giants from starting 0-5 next season

  1. Los Angeles Chargers: Derwin James – Safety – Florida State

One of the most dynamic secondary players in all of College Football. He can read the quarterback, make tackles, play coverage, and change the game. Since Weddle left, the Chargers have lacked a safety that can do everything, and help the secondary for a long time. James could lead a lacking secondary that always suffers major losses. Derwin James has been a leader for his defense this year, as he’s posted 18 tackles, half a sack, but once again no turnovers, as he’s an enforcer.
