Dave’s NFL Season Predictions and the Upset of the Week

September 7, 2017 Off By tailgatesports

The NFL season is upon us, with the New England Patriots set to defend their fifth Superbowl title under the Hoodie and the GOAT Tom Brady when the Kansas City Chiefs roll into Foxboro. The Clown, Commissioner Roger Goodell, will be in attendance, his first game (that counts) back at Gillette since the Deflategate saga was started.

I think the Patriots come out firing, mainly to new acquisition wideout Brandin Cooks, and look for the emergence of another RB out of the mastery of Patriots’ Running Backs Coach Ivan Fears with Rex Burkhead and Dion Lewis healthy.

The questions I have are: Who are the Chiefs throwing to once Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce are shut down? Chris Connoly? I don’t see the Patriots blowing the Chiefs out early, but you have to think that unless KC can control clock, this will be a long night for Head Coach Andy Reid before he gets to sulk on the team flight home with some cheeseburgers and Diet Cokes.

For the Patriots, I think they could be in trouble if Gronk is not involved in the offense early—they could always go to Hogan or Cooks, but this is a team that has had trouble starting games, and Gronk (Edelman too) helps them roll into the second half blowouts.

Final Score: Patriots 31, Chiefs 20
