Celebrities That Will Actually Make the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game Somewhat Entertaining

February 16, 2018 Off By tailgatesports

NBA All-Star Weekend is finally here. Tomorrow will feature a highly anticipated and sure to be intense matchup in the Dunk Contest, and of course Sunday will feature Team Steph taking on a cursed Team LeBron in the actual All-Star Game, but unfortunately we have to settle for the All-Star Celebrity Game tonight. While there are some completely insufferable celebrities in the game tonight (i.e. Nick Cannon and Jamie Foxx), there are definitely others who will make the game watchable, and I’m here to break down who those celebrities are.

TEAM LAKERS

Sterling Brim

In case you didn’t know, Sterling Brim co-hosts on MTV’s Ridiculousness with Rob Dyrdek and Chanel West Coast. While I’m not sure if Steelo has an atheltic bone in his body at all, he is at least an entertaining personality and could definitely make the game enjoyable.

Caleb McLaughlin

This is awesome. Lucas from Stranger Things is back in the All-Star Celebrity Game looking to absolutely run house again. Despite being half the age and size of literally everyone around him on the court, Caleb will easily carry a very weak Lakers team Friday. I personally believe the entire Lakers starting 5 should just be kids from Stranger Things, but then again I’m totally ok with a team supposedly representing the Lakers being actually terrible.

Flea

The bassist of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and LA native/die hard Lakers fan is playing for Team Lakers tonight (shocking I know). Flea is a character to say the least, and while he probably can’t dribble for shit, I’m still excited to see him take the court, and hopefully him and Paul Pierce can talk a little smack too.

Nate Robinson

The Seattle Seahawks wouldn’t give him a job last summer, so Nate had to settle for the All-Star Celebrity Game. I really want to see a Nate Robinson comeback, whether it’s in the NBA or the NFL, but for now this is as close as he’ll get to making those dreams a reality. Who knows, maybe Nate will make an appearance at tomorrow’s Dunk Contest.

TEAM CLIPPERS

Player Coach Paul Pierce

At this point it’s literally impossible to keep Paul Pierce off TV. The greatest Celtic in modern NBA history saw his number 34 go up into the rafters a few days ago, and now he will be back representing the Clippers one more time as a player coach in the All-Star Celebrity Game. Team Clippers is so stacked that I’d be surprised if Paul even gets enough minutes to score 10 points tonight over a pitiful Team Lakers.

Brandon Armstrong (aka B.A. on Twitter)

Brandon is single-handedly the best NBA impersonator on Twitter. There’s simply no competition. Not only is Brandon absolutely hilarious, but the man can hoop too. If he plays at even half of his full potential he’ll completely expose anyone trying to guard him. I expect my boy Brandon to dominate yet another All-Star Celebrity Game, and he’s pretty much the only reason why I’ll watch part of the game. I can only pray that he’s mic’d up during the game.

Bubba Watson

This is easily the best selection for the All-Star Celebrity Game. I’m gonna be the first to say it that Bubba wearing number 23 for the Clippers is a BOLD move. If you don the number of the GOAT (MJ not LeBron) you better have a night on the court. I have a feeling that Bubba probably won’t live up to this expectation thought. Out of all the major sports, Golf probably has the highest population of uncoordinated athletes within their sport, and I have a feeling that Bubba will definitely fit that stereotype to a T. Don’t get me wrong, Bubba is a sensational golfer, but I cannot imagine he’ll be dominate in the game whatsoever.

Quavo

The most recognizable Migo is going to be in this year’s All-Star Celebrity Game. Quavo can actually play well, the only problem with his game is that he’s literally slower than Shaq. Don’t count on him to make a big play on transition, but if he has an open shot or a clear path to paint, Quavo is your guy. Once again, Clippers by a billion.

Jason Williams

After suffering a devastating injury in the Big3 League, Jason Williams is back and ready to pull off more unreal passes. while he probably he can’t make any of the plays that he used to for the Kings back in the day, he’s still more athletic than 90% of his competition, so I bet he’ll still be one of the most entertaining players on the court.

REMINDER: The NBA All-Star Celebrity Game is not that exciting, and if you have ANY plans at all Friday night, please don’t cancel them for this game. However, if you’re looking to stay in and watch something entertaining this is definitely your best option.
