Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond Set to Team Up
January 29, 2018
In an effort to rebuild, the Clippers are ready to unload and they have already started by sending F Blake Griffin to the Detroit Pistons. The Clippers also send F Bryce Johnson and C Willie Reed in exchange for G Avery Bradley, F Tobias Harris, C Boban Marjanovic and 2 future draft picks.
Compared to a lot of trades that happened this season this one is a legitimate trade and I believe it was extremely balanced with maybe a tad bit of a lead going to the Clippers on this one. Both teams were compensated well for the talent that was exchanged and it will help out both teams equally. This makes the Eastern Conference more fun to watch adding the duo of Griffin and C Andre Drummond to play with G Reggie Jackson when he returns from injury, and hopefully the Pistons are on a steady climb.
As for the Clippers, they have decided to hit the reset button. They not only have moved Griffin, but are also looking to move C DeAndre Jordan and G Lou Williams in exchange for young talent and draft picks. The good thing for the Clippers is they got one of the top defenders in the league in Avery Bradley and a solid two-way player in Tobias Harris to go along with Danilo Gallinari, Patrick Beverley, and Milos Teodosic. They now arguably have one of the top defensive backcourts in the league with Pat Bev and Bradley and are getting young while also managing to not be the worst team in the league.
The only tough part will be deciding to pay Bradley this offseason and to decide to pay Harris next offseason as both are getting into expiring contracts. The Pistons have made it clear they want to start putting together a team to compete hard in the East and they are one piece away from now becoming something to think about in the East.
