Are These NBA Teams Legit? Part 2

Are These NBA Teams Legit? Part 2

February 26, 2018 Off By tailgatesports

In the last segment, we looked through a couple NBA teams who actually have a legitimate shot to make a playoff run, like the Celtics, Raptors and Timberwolves. In this article we will look at three more NBA teams that potentially have a chance to go far in the playoffs. There will be one more part of this series, so check back again next week to see if your favorite team has a chance to win it all!

Golden State Warriors

Here they are, the super team of super teams. The team that has two former MVPs, multiple past and current all stars and a great coaching staff. This team has everything you would want out of a super team. Alright, I am just going to get to the point because it is very obvious, yes this team has a shot to win it all. Barring injury I see only two teams in the NBA who have any chance at all to beat the Warriors in a 7 game series: The Rockets and the Cavs. The Cavs I can see beat them because they have before, and although both the Warriors and the Cavs had different teams, they have the best shot of any team in the East. The Rockets have a shot because they are playing amazing basketball right now and secondly because the duo of CP3 and James Harden  is just destroying NBA teams. Unfortunately, I think the Warriors will repeat as champions, but they will not do it easily. They will have tough 6 and 7 games series’ against both the Cavs and the Rockets where  superstars will battle till the end. As a basketball fan I wish another team would win this season, however, I am just not sure anybody can take a healthy Warriors team in 7 games in the playoffs.

Oklahoma City Thunder

After Westbrook’s historic season, this team had to do something in order to compliment their star. In the offseason they did just that by picking up Melo and Paul George. In these two, they added two all star caliber players who were hungry for a title. This time might be one of the more hungry teams in the NBA for a championship. This big three had a lot of hype going into the season as they have three players than can potentially average 25 points a game. However, they started very slow and are currently having a solid but not stellar season at this point. They find themselves at 5th in the West, which is solid, but not contender worthy. I predict they will finish 4rd in the West ahead the Timberwolves. This will create a 2nd round matchup in the playoffs versus the Warriors where the Kevin Durant vs Russell Westbrook hype will be crazy. I see the Warriors winning this series without too much of a problem, however it will be exciting, I can promise you that.

San Antonio Spurs

This team seems to always be in contention regardless of who they have on their team. They’ve been so good for so long it is tough to remember a time when this team was terrible. However, they do not have their star player Kawhi Leonard for the rest of their season, which is their lifeline. He is their best offensive and defensive player by far. Honestly, I could see this team losing in the first round to a team like the Trail Blazers or the Nuggets. Well see how they carry out the rest of the season, but they are going to need guys to step up big time if they want to make it to the 2nd or even 3rd round of the playoffs.
