Are the Buffalo Bills Going to Trade Up For a Top 10 Pick?

Are the Buffalo Bills Going to Trade Up For a Top 10 Pick?

February 22, 2018 Off By tailgatesports

Finally, we have the first rumor about a team possibly wanting to trade up into the top 10 picks to take a quarterback. This team of course is the Buffalo Bills. They are also rumored to be in love with Josh Rosen, which is why they want to move up. Mel Kiper stated that many of the teams are uninterested in Rosen and he could fall in the draft. With that being said, these could be some of the possible teams they look to trade with, and what they may include in a trade.

The Buffalo Bills have all of these picks and may use some of them along with a player below in order to trade up:

21st overall pick

22nd overall pick

53rd overall pick

56th overall pick

96th overall pick

117th overall pick

189th overall pick

208th overall pick

Cordy Glenn OT

These are the teams that hold the top 10 picks and what picks they posses along with what they may do in order to trade with the Buffalo Bills.

Cleveland Browns

1st overall pick

4th overall pick

33rd  overall pick

35th overall pick

60th  overall pick

97th overall pick

120th overall pick

129th overall pick

150th overall pick

161st overall pick

193rd overall pick

The Browns have a new GM who is ready to help this team become a great team once again, so trading one of the picks they have in the first round makes sense as they could get even more starters with the picks they get in return. A possible trade that could be seen is the Browns giving up the 4th pick, 120th pick, and a future third round pick for the 21st, 22nd, and 56th overall pick. I still believe the Browns will want to keep the first overall pick or want too much for it.

New York Giants

2nd overall pick

34th overall pick

66th overall pick

98th overall pick

130th overall pick

162nd overall pick

194th overall pick

The New York Giants only hold 7 picks, which may not be enough for them to help build up their team again, so trading for more picks and an offensive tackle makes sense. Their was rumors of the Giants possibly taking a QB with the second pick, but this may not make sense as the quarterback would just sit on the bench until Eli retires, so instead they can trade out. If I see a trade happening, I believe the trade will include the Giants 2nd pick, and a future second round pick for the Bills 21st overall pick, 56th pick, and offensive tackle Cordy Glenn.

Indianapolis Colts

3rd overall pick

36th overall pick

67th overall pick

100th overall pick

131st overall pick

164th overall pick

195th overall pick

I don’t see the Colts trading this pick, as they could really use this pick, but I could see them trading out if for some reason the player they were targeting gets selected, and they don’t see any other player worthy of the 3rd pick. I would then see the Colts giving up the 3rd pick, 67th pick, and a future 4th round pick for the Bills 21st pick, 22nd pick, 56th pick, and 189th pick. They could also try to acquire Cordy Glenn in a trade as well, so they can finally get help at Offensive Tackle. I think this is still one of the weakest possibilities in terms of a trade.

Denver Broncos

5th overall pick

40th overall pick

71st overall pick

102nd overall pick

105th overall pick

133rd overall pick

168th overall pick

199th overall pick

The Denver Broncos are considered one of the top contenders to land free agent Kirk Cousins, so if they do land him, a trade would seem more reasonable. This is because they may cut ties with a couple veteran players who are taking up to much cap room. They can now look to acquire multiple picks to replace these veterans right away, and help them with improving the record right away.

New York Jets

6th overall pick

37th overall pick

49th overall pick

72nd overall pick

103rd overall pick

148th overall pick

165th overall pick

209th overall pick

Another team that is possibly in the running for Kirk Cousins, I still don’t believe they will try to trade their 6th overall pick as they will look to add another playmaker early on in the draft. Although, if they don’t have a chance to select the player they want then they may look to move down in order to get more valuable players that they may have their eyes on for later on in the first round. A possible trade that could play out would be the Jets 6th pick, and 72nd pick, along with a future 5th round pick for Buffalo’s 21st pick, 22nd pick, and 56th pick. This is another trade that I don’t really see happening unless the Bills make an overwhelming offer.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

7th overall pick

38th overall pick

69th overall pick

104th overall pick

135th overall pick

166th overall pick

188th overall pick

211th overall pick

The Buccaneers may look to trade their pick in the top 10 in order to gain more picks in this draft so they can finally build a team that can compete. This would really help Tampa Bay out as I could see the Buccaneers trading the 7th pick, and the 166th pick, for the 21st pick, 22nd pick, and 189th pick. This is a possibility that I can actually see happening as it would benefit both sides.

Chicago Bears

8th overall pick

39th overall pick

101st overall pick

111th overall pick

136th overall pick

167th overall pick

198th overall pick

I don’t think they would consider trading down as they need to still add some pieces, but they will look to take a real star with the 8th pick. With that being said, so many unexpected deals and picks have been made in the draft, so this could happen. I could see the Bears trading the 8th pick, and 136th pick and the Bills trade the 21st pick, 22nd pick, and the 96th pick in order to get the deal done. Even though this deal looks nice on paper, I still believe that Chicago will use their 8th pick to draft a player.

San Francisco 49ers

9th overall pick

59th overall pick

70th overall pick

74th overall pick

124th overall pick

134th overall pick

170th overall pick

201st overall pick

The 49ers already have some great value picks in the 2018 draft, but they could add even more if they traded with the the Buffalo Bills. This would would help out the 49ers a lot as they are still missing some pieces in order to become a great team. I could see San Francisco trading the 9th pick, and the 124th pick, for the Bills 21st pick, and 22nd pick. This could really help out the 49ers as they need to still find great players to help fill the positions they need on their team.

Oakland Raiders

10th overall pick

41st overall pick

75th overall pick

106th overall pick

171st overall pick

178th overall pick

202nd overall pick

I’m not sure what the Oakland Raiders are going to do for sure as it’s really up to Jon Gruden on what direction they go in. If he sees a prospect is worthy of the 10th pick, he’ll draft them, but if not, the Raiders could look to make a trade. They may be cutting some of the players that are taking up to much cap room, so a trade down with the Bills could make some sense as they look for more picks to help fill the gaps. A possible trade could be Oakland giving the 10th pick and 106th pick to the Bills in return for the 21st pick, 22nd pick, and 208th pick. This could help benefit the Raiders, but no one know exactly what Gruden has planned.

My personal belief, along with recent rumors and reports, states that Josh Rosen in all likelihood will be selected in the top 6 picks. This means the Bills may have to offer a little more than they would like to in order to move up. However, if they think that Rosen will be their franchise quarterback going forward, that will be the risk they have to take. I think the two biggest contenders that are in the running to trade out are the Giants at pick number 2 and the Browns at pick number 4. The Giants could then use those draft picks to help build back up quickly into the playoff team they were a few years ago, and also get a offensive lineman that can help anchor the line; while the Buffalo Bills can rest easy as they know for sure that they can get Rosen. If they don’t want to give up an elite offensive lineman, they could give their two first round picks to trade with the Browns in order to get the 4th pick. I think the Browns could build with these extra picks, and the Bills will get their franchise quarterback out of this draft. Since there are some rumors of the Giants taking Rosen at two, this trade wouldn’t be finalized until the draft was underway.
