Are the Boston Bruins In Need of New Faces?
January 20, 2017With the Bruins recent back to back losses to the New York Islanders and the disappointing loss to the Detroit Red Wings, the Bruins need a change. Whether it is a front office change or an on ice change, they need something quick. They have lost 4 of their last 6 games to teams who aren’t even in the playoff slots. They have overplayed Rask, making him look tired and sloppy, and the Bruins, without a doubt, need to give McIntyre more games. He is a good netminder and it will give Tuukka a well deserved rest in games he shouldn’t be playing, like the recent game against a last place Islanders. It is time for a new face to come to Boston to help keep the Bruins in the playoff race.
The Boston Bruins are in need of both a top 6 winger as well as a top 4 defensemen to help boost them to the playoffs. Although their defense has done relatively well for having a rookie play as a number two, they could use a young defensmen to ease the load for Chara, Carlo, and especially Tuukka Rask, who has been the Bruins savior this season. A good potential team they should trade with would be the Minnesota Wild. Minnesota is stacked with young defensmen, Brodin, Dumba, Folin, and Scandella are all good options. Dumba would be the Bruins best option, he is a young physical defenseman who can get the puck to the net. The Bruins might be able to get him for someone like Spooner, a 2nd round pick and maybe a prospect.
As of late, a lot of speculation has been surrounding the Boston Bruins and the Colorado Avalanche about sending Swedish left winger Gabriel Landeskog to the Bruins for Carlo. Landeskog would fit in Boston’s roster perfectly. He has good size and isn’t afraid to play physical. The Bruins have reportedly said no this offer as well as no to including defensive prospect Charlie McAvoy from Boston University. The Bruins have a plethora of other prospects they could send out including defenseman Jakub Zboril and forward Zachary Senyshyn. The Bruins would definitely have to send a first round pick to Colorado as well as a more proven defensmen like Colin Miller or Joe Morrow. Ultimately, Boston would have to send out a lot to get a little, but the Bruins need a winger for the second line that can put the puck in the back of the net.
The Bruins also recently released a statement saying that they will address the coaching situation on Saturday the 21st regardless of the outcome of tonight’s game against Chicago. This means the Bruins might not have Claude Julien going into Sunday’s game against Pittsburgh. It’s time for a change, whether it’s the coaching or moving some core players, they need to make some sort of a move soon.
