Quick Series Recap for Those Tuning into a Tight Game 4

The Capitals stormed out to a commanding 2-0 lead on the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Eastern Conference finals. This was a huge surprise, especially since Washington went into Tampa’s Arena and totally dominated the first two games. This is the first time in Capitals history that they have won the first two games on the road.

Game 1 was a 4-2 final in which Andrei Vasilevskiy being pulled was the headline. Washington fired out of the gates and scored 4 in a row. Kempny and Ovechkin both hit the back of the net in the first. Then, in the second period, Beagle and Eller scored goals of their own to make it 4-0. Tampa showed a little fight in the third period, but it was just a little too late. Stamkos and Palat both scored, making the final score 4-2.

Game 2 was more of the same. Tom Wilson, fresh off his suspension from the Pittsburgh series, scored 28 seconds into the game. But the Lightning didn’t fold; Point and Stamkos came out scoring, making it a 2-1 game at the end of the first period. That would be as close as it would get for Tampa Bay. The Caps then went on a four-goal flurry of Smith-Pelley, Eller, Kuznetsov, and Ovechkin to make it 6-1. Shortly after the last goal, Brett Connolly scored and that would be it for Game 2. 6-2 final.

Game 3 was a bounce back game for the Lightning. Coming out with a 4-2 win to keep Tampa fans hopeful for the series. Stamkos opened up the scoring with a power play goal. Then Kucherov and Hedman made it 3-1 in the Second. Brett Connolly then added another, but Point answered for Tampa to make it 4-1 at the end of 2. Only 1 goal was scored in the 3rd, Kuznetsov at 16:58.

My prediction for Game 4 is a Washington win. Tampa is playing hypothetically for their lives but I don’t think it will be enough as Washington will take a stranglehold on the series and make it 3-1. At the moment the score is 2-2. Look for Washington to close the game out in the Third Period.
