Johnny Manziel is Ready to Return to the NFL
February 16, 2018Johnny Manziel, known by his nicknames “Money Manziel” or “Johnny Football”, is ready to return to professional football. For those that do not remember, Johnny was the first Freshman to ever win the Heisman Trophy in college when he played for Texas A&M. After getting drafted, young Johnny wasn’t quite mature enough for the NFL. He was out partying, drinking all the time, being reckless off the field and getting arrested. This led to Manziel finally entering rehab to get his life back together. Now, at 25, Manziel is ready to return to the NFL. In an interview with ABC News, Manziel stated he has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and is caring for not only his physical health but his mental health as well. Manziel has decided that he wants to return to the game he loved so much growing up and what brought him so much joy. It will be hard for a team to take a chance on him given his history, but I am all for the Money Manziel comeback.
To make his comeback serious, Manziel will participate in a developmental Spring League this year to help him get back into the NFL. He has explored entering the CFL as well to get back into professional football. The Spring League will go from March 28th to April 15th helping players like Johnny who are looking to revive their careers in football. In the interview Manziel was quoted saying, “Football has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. Sometimes you take for granted how much you value something until it’s gone. My goal is to make it back to the NFL and I realize I have to earn that privilege.” He is excited and thankful for the Spring League allowing him to participate stating that he misses the competition.
The Spring League is 4 teams battling it out in two doubleheaders, which will be played in April. 10 NFL teams attended games in 2017 and 22 NFL teams looked at the film from the league last season. Teams are always looking to add players and this league could help other players including Manziel.
Personally, I am so ready for Johnny to come back to football. Manziel should look good to the NFL since he is extremely low risk, isn’t looking for tons of money to play knowing he has to earn the big money. I believe Manziel is ready to play football and he has matured a ton since he was first drafted. Johnny was the last QB to get the Browns a win and I can’t wait for his return. I hope that some team takes a chance on him, maybe not next season but sometime in the future. He has incredible playmaking ability and is exciting to watch.
