New York Yankees vs. Houston Astros Game 3 ALCS Recap

Game 3 rolls around and the Astros have a healthy 2-0 lead heading into the Bronx.  I think Houston forgot who the fuck they were messing with in Yankees Stadium tonight.  Judge and company rolled to a dominant 8-1 lead behind a stud of a performance from C.C. Sabathia.  Sabathia ran the show tonight through 6 complete innings, pitching like an absolute boss.  He struck out 5 guys and only allowed 3 hits while giving up 0 runs in yet another clutch performance in the playoffs.  This man has made his money in the playoffs mowing down the Indians from Cleveland and these poor softies from Houston.  Sabathia improved to 10-0 on the year in 13 starts after a Yankee’s loss and proves yet again he is still a playoff hero.  The bullpen also came through for the Yankees and pitched incredibly well again, except for Betances, who once again gave a piece of shit performance throwing 10 pitches walking two batters and then being quickly pulled in the 9th by Giardi.  Betances has really got me upset the last few appearances pitching like an absolute bum, but in any case the Yanks still pulled off a great win.

Houston on the other hand looked terrible and it started with their man on the mound, Charlie Morton.  Morton only got through 3.2 innings before being pulled and letting up 7 ER by one 3-run dinger to the Todd Father and the 3-run homer, let up by Will Harris, which were all earned except for one to Morton by the Judge.  Speaking of the Judge, maybe this will finally be a turning point for the soon to be AL MVP, as he as struck out more times this postseason than the Browns have lost football games.  Aside from the terrible display of offense, the Astros’ lone bright spot in today’s game was Collin McHugh, who pitched the last 4 innings for the Astros striking out three and not allowing a single hit.  The entire offense for Houston played like they did not even belong in the ballpark.  They have been so heavily relying on the top 4 in the order to hit like legends that the offense looks almost non-existent.  They are relying heavily on their pitching too and that will come up to bite them in the ass if they think they can beat New York like that.

It was all about the Bronx Bombers tonight.  It started with a big one-handed 3-run jack from Todd Frazier, who looked to lunge at the baseball and just poke it over the right field fence.  Watching the game myself I was pretty surprised the ball could have possibly been hit that hard.  Aaron Judge also hit a 3-run dinger and also made a great grab at the wall robbing what looked to be a double off the top of the wall.  I guess it’s a nice perk having a 6’7” Right Fielder picking balls out of the sky.  The one thing that has been carrying the Yankees this postseason is their bullpen, and that can’t be said enough.  I can’t wait for Game 4 in the Bronx, the Yanks will have Sonny Gray (3.55 ERA in the Regular Season) on the mound against Lance McCullers Jr. (4.25 ERA in Regular Season).  The Yanks are gonna look to even this baby up, or else Game 5 will be a tough deficit to comeback from.

But then again we’ve seen that happen before.
