Diaries of an 0-6 Blogger
October 16, 2017I’ve just accepted defeat. I write golf articles for a living, so I guess I kinda get a pass for sucking at this whole “Sunday Night Football” predictions thing. However, I know enough about football to know that when I picked the Broncos to win last night, it was about as safe a pick as I could possibly make. With OBJ, Brandon Marshall, and Sterling Shepard out for the game, Eli’s star receiver is now Evan Engram. Who’d have thought that him and Eli would have gone off against the Broncos very strong defense?
Does it make me feel better that almost everyone else on the staff took the L this week? Kinda, sorta, but not really. The probability of me getting 6 straight games wrong is essentially the same as losing 6 straight coin tosses. But come on! Who would have thought the Giants, a team who scored 10 total points in their first two games of the season, a team that lost on a 61 yard field goal as time expired, a team that lost to the CHARGERS (!!!!!!), would win against a team as good as the Broncos?
I thought the Giants were destined to lose, and who knows? Maybe they are, but I can tell you with absolute certainty that I am destined to lose even more. Next week, the Falcons have a rematch against the Pats. Now I’m a huge Pats fan, so I’ll probably end up going with them. Knowing my luck, they’ll probably be the ones to blow the 28-3 lead this time.
Maybe I’ll just flip a coin instead. Heads for the home team and tails for the visitor. Anything that’s not what I’m doing now, because obviously that doesn’t seem to be working for me. If you have a better pick, I’d love to hear it. It’s a guarantee that your pick will be better than mine, so send it in and help me out.
Till then, I’ll be crossing my fingers, praying for a win next week. Hopefully the seventh time’s the charm.
