First to Home: MLB Rundown September 2nd
September 6, 2017Schoop the Hero For The O’s: Jonathan Schoop laced a 13th inning walkoff double on Saturday night to give the O’s a 1-0 win as they continue to make up ground on the teams ahead of them in the Wild Card race. Manny Machado continues to have an incredible second half of the season as he contributed a 4 hit performance and scored the winning run last night.
Red Sox Down Yankees: The Red Sox handled the Yankees last night behind a triad of home runs and a stifling pitching performance from mid-season acquisition Doug Fister. I think it’s about that time to declare the Red Sox AL East Champs.
Indians Win 9 Straight: Wins just keep coming for The Tribe as they swept yesterday’s double header against the Tigers. To go along with their impressive winning streak Edward Encarnacion has reached base in 24 straight games. The longest active streak in the majors. Shades of Joey Votto.
Kershaw Dominates in Return: Clayton Kershaw was dominant in his return from the DL, throwing 6 ⅔ of work in a 1-0 Dodgers win. After 5 straight losses it was nice to be able to turn to their horse to get them a much needed W. Kershaw is now 16-2.
D-Backs 9 Straight: Paul Goldschmidt continues to be an MVP caliber player leading his team into September with a charge. The team has won 9 straight including last night’s 9-5 thumping over division rival Colorado. This is surely the most overlooked team in baseball, but they might just be a World Series Champion when all is said and done this October.
