First to Home: August 25th MLB News and Notes
August 25, 2017A typical light sleight of games on Thursday, but many of them with big implications, let’s get it:
Indians Knock Sale Around: The Indians might officially be Chris Sale’s achilles heel. He once again got knocked around by them yesterday as he did only a month earlier. The Indians bats combined for 18 in a 13-6 thumping of the Sox. The up and down 4 game set ended the way it deserved to end, with a split. The Indians and Sox might once again see each other down the road.
Rangers Take 3 of 4 From Halos: Going into the 4 game set vs. the Rangers, the Angels were among the hottest teams in baseball. But a few dominant pitching performances from Rangers starters was enough to cool off the Angels, as the Rangers took 3 of 4 including last night’s 3-0 win. The AL Wild Card is truly incredible right now with 5 teams (Twins, Angels, Mariners, Royals, and Rangers) within one game of each other for the second spot.
I’m Ready To Bury the Cardinals: A 4-3 Devastating defeat against one of the league’s worst, the Padres, while they were favored at -300 is about all I needed at this point to sign, seal, and deliver the Cardinals season in the garbage. At 4.5 games back in the division, and 5 back in the Wild Card, I just don’t think they have the juice to make a September run.
CY Young Update: Still gotta have Sale and Scherzer.
MVP Update: Mike Trout STILL, and Nolan Arenado by a slim margin.
