Astros Destroy Jays: The Astros won their 60th game of the season on Sunday in a fitting way. The team compiled 17 hits and 19 runs in the offensive showcase. They have put up stunning offensive numbers; they have scored the most first half runs since the 2008 Rangers and their team OPS is the highest since the 2000 Giants.

Brewers Down Yanks: The Yankees were hopeful the momentum from Clint Frazier’s walkoff would propel them to another win on Sunday. However, the Brewers had other plans as Travis Shaw blasted a three run bomb in the first inning to set the tone on the way to a 5-3 Brewers victory. The Brewers head into the break at 50-41, among MLB’s hottest teams right now.

Rays Take 3 of 4: The Rays beat the Red Sox 5-3 on Sunday behind a clutch 8th inning homer from Brad Miller. The Rays were able to take 3 of 4 from the Sox, proving capable of competing the with the big dogs in the AL East.

Cubs Woes: The Cubs, yes the Cubs, are 43-45 at the break. Their team hasn’t changed much from the World Series roster of last season, so in many ways their season has been confusing. However, when you looked at the underwhelming performances of their starting pitchers including Jon Lester who surrendered 10 first innings runs on Sunday, the picture becomes more clear. Not to mention the underachieving season for Kris Bryant as well. They are tough team to predict, but it appears the Brewers have what it takes to win the Central and crush Cubbie dreams.

Kyle Freeland Almost No-No: Rockies’ rookie Kyle Freeland was absolutely dominant on Sunday, dealing to the White Sox hitters in the hitter friendly Coors Field. In the 9th inning with 1 out, veteran Melky Cabrera was able to line a single into left to end the no-hit bid, but the performance was a reflection of his bright future in the game.

Giancarlo Stanton Rolling: Stanton had his second multi-homer game of the week on Sunday, including a big extra inning blast. Stanton now heads into the break with 26 homers, eyeing his first 40 Home Run season if he can stay healthy.

Happy All-Star Break!
