2017 NFL Draft Reactions

2017 NFL Draft Reactions

After analyzing many of the picks in this year’s NFL Draft, there were a lot of good selections that solidified what these respective teams needed, but only a few picks were great selections that really stood out to me. Other picks were just flat out terrible and deserved to be mentioned for how bad they truly were. Here’s a list of the three selections I liked, and three selections I absolutely hated.

The Three Picks I Love:

1) Cleveland Browns: Entire First Round of Picks

The Browns filled some major needs on the defensive side of the ball. They got an absolute monster of an Edge Rusher. The Browns then got a swiss army knife that’s a must need in their division. They also added another weapon on the offense, a big, tall Tight End that’s taking over for Gary Barnidge. They also didn’t rush the selection of a Quarterback, like they usually do.

2) Green Bay Packers: Kevin King

The Packers needed help in the secondary and stole King with their second round pick as he has it all. Kevin has height, agility, natural ball hawk skills, and speed. He will help lead the Packers back to the NFC Championship game.

3) Buffalo Bills: Nathan Peterman

We all know that the Bills have had an inconsistency at the Quarterback position, but in the fifth round of the draft they may have changed that. They drafted arguably one of the most NFL ready QB’s, who played in one of the best offenses in college to produce great Quarterbacks. Peterman will compete for the starting job from day one, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he took over the starting job sometime during the season.

The Three Picks I Hate:

1) Chicago Bears: Mitch Trubisky

Although this selection may pay off in the long term, and get a future signal caller, giving up a 2017 third round pick, 2017 fourth round pick, and a 2018 third round pick is way too much to only move up one spot. They need defense, which is still a big concern, and will kill them during the season.

2) Cincinnati Bengals: John Ross

I like the matchup of getting a speedy receiver to pair with AJ Green, but the injury history of this player is a big concern. The Bengals could have traded down a few spots to make this pick. If they wanted to stay where they were, they could have upgraded the Defensive Line or the Linebacker corps.

3) Kansas City Chiefs: Kareem Hunt

I like this Running Back, but I still believe he isn’t truly a third round pick, but more of a fourth or fifth round pick. There were better options available in the third round like that of D’Onta Foreman. The Chiefs could use more of a speed back, which Hunt is not, as he’s more of a powerback.
